PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Executive Director | Director of Special Education July 2016 – June 2019 Minnesota Valley Education District, Saint Peter, MN - Led the development, implementation, and review of the Board of Directors’ policy manual, including the establishment of a policy review process and cycle for the education district.
- Guided the Board of Directors in the review and revision of the Education District Agreement and Bylaws to ensure alignment between state laws and current organizational practices.
- Represented the Board of Directors as the chief negotiator and representative for the education district in regard to collective bargaining agreements and oversight for all labor and management activities.
- Provided leadership as an ex officio member of the education district’s Board of Directors and as an ex officio member of the superintendents’ Executive Committee.
- Revised the staff evaluation and performance appraisal protocols to include national standards and best-practice indicators within a framework of supervisor feedback, reflection, and professional growth targets.
- Developed, monitored, and managed the education district’s $6 million annual budget.
- Provided leadership and oversight for the development, coordination, and evaluation of the total special education system within the seven member school districts and the education district.
- Served as liaison among parents, 130+ special education staff, 19 principals, 7 superintendents, regional service providers, member districts, county agencies, collaborative partners, and the Minnesota Department of Education in regard to special education services, best-practices, and compliance.
Principal July 2016 – June 2019 Minnesota Valley Education District, Saint Peter, MN - Provide leadership for the overall activities for students and staff in three special education schools:
K-12 Level IV School serving students with emotional behavior disorder; K-12 Level III programming serving students with autism spectrum disorder; 5-12 self-contained school serving students in a
residential care and treatment program.
- Supervise and evaluate 38 staff: licensed teachers, social workers, mental health practitioners, paraprofessionals, and office staff.
- Provide leadership for program initiatives, team-building, student discipline, problem-solving team
coordination, and creation of a safe, respectful, fair, and appropriate learning environment.
District Technology Director July 2012 – June 2016 Saint Peter Public Schools, Saint Peter, MN - Supervise, evaluate and provide direction to technology department staff and district technology coaches.
- Coordinate, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the three-year district technology plan.
- Provide leadership for the instructional coaching committee and the district technology committee.
